Boeing B-29 Superfortress

1. "Enola Gay" was the aircraft used to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. It was a B-29-45-MO, modified as "Silverplate" aircraft and belonged to the 393rd Bombardment Squadron, 509th Composite Group. It was flown by Col. Paul Tibbets.
