Curtiss-Wright C-46 Commando

Derived from a civilian airliner design, the C-46 Commando cargo plane served with distinction during World War 2 but was not produced as much as the infamous C-47 Dakota. After the war, a number of suprlus C-46 Commando were sold on the civilian market, and a handful still fly commercial operations nowadays.

1. This aircraft, a C-46A-CU, was the first production Commando and was delivered to the USAAF on July 13, 1942. It survived the war.
