De 1951 \u00e0 1958, il servit dans la Royal Canadian Air Force, avant de revenir dans le civil. Pendant un temps, il porta les couleurs \u00ab\u00a0d&rsquo;Old Crow\u00a0\u00bb, le Mustang du Col. Clarence \u00ab\u00a0Bud\u00a0\u00bb Anderson.
