In reply to <a href="https://www.gaetanmarie.com/presentation-spitfires/#comment-241">Eric Welsh</a>.

You're very welcome. The type of font varied as can be seen on the photos, but it seems that the most common one was a fairly thick font with serif, something similar to Amiri font (which you can find on Google Fonts). Absent any photos of the aircraft, I'd go with something of the sort. You can look at the photos of P7754, P7883, P7923, P8382 or P8385. These will give you a good idea of what the font often looked like.

I hope this helps !

Gaetan,

Many thanks for composing this - very helpful. I have a question for you. I’m trying to work out the font which was used on Spitfire W3253’s presentation “Central Provinces and Berra VI” and wondered if there was a specific style or standard used?

Hullo Gaetan. Most kind of you, sir. You'll shortly receive the picture data for X4614. I have some more highly detailed picture analysis of cowling screws and paint in relation to the Falkland Islands presentation logo. This was conducted a few years ago to clear up picture confusion between this presentation Spitfire ( No1 out of 10 ), and X4616 ( No 4 out of 10 ) because the latter Spitfire seemed to be the chosen one of the two for nearly all the PR shots when both were serving in 92 Squadron at RAF Manston in 1941. Now we are sure of the identity and callsign data, so artwork cannot be criticised as wrong. Kind Regards, Simon G

Hello,

Thank you ! I've sent an email to aircrewremembered.com

I'll look into creating the profiles, but finding spare time for extra projects is often difficult !

Best regards,
